The cryptographic infrastructure mobile credentials require is rarely in place

Moving a credential into a phone requires a dedicated cryptographic infrastructure — certificates, keys, secure element authorization, and hardware security modules — operating across every device, every OEM ecosystem, and the full credential lifecycle.
This is a specialized discipline. It sits outside transit operations, access management, and automotive engineering.
The responsibility falls on the credential issuer. The capability rarely does.
