What OnBoard™ Transit Makes Possible

No Changes to Acceptance Infrastructure

The Card Data Preparation System converts existing card specifications for mobile issuance — metro gates, bus validators, parking terminals, and other service points recognize the digital transit card without modification.

No Changes to Operating Rules

The digital transit card operates under the same rules as the physical card — card types, fare products, concession eligibility, top-up, refund, and risk controls. Preserved, not rebuilt.

No Changes to Back Office

Mobile is added as a new issuance and service channel — clearing, account management, and transaction processing continue operating exactly as before.

Scale Across Mobile Wallets

One integration layer connects to multiple mobile wallets.
Adding a new wallet does not require rebuilding the transit service.

Platform Architecture

OnBoard™ Transit operates across four layers: card data preparation, service lifecycle management, mobile wallet integration, and back office connectivity.

Core Capabilities

01

Card Data Preparation System

The Card Data Preparation System converts existing card specifications for mobile issuance.
Supports MIFARE Classic, DESFire, Calypso and ITSO card specifications.
Prepares the card data required for mobile issuance — card type, ticket products, and initial card state.
02

Service Lifecycle Management

Digital transit cards are managed exactly like physical cards — same back office, same processes, full lifecycle from issuance to termination.
03

Mobile Wallet Integration

OnBoard™ Transit connects to multiple mobile wallets through one integration — PTAs reach commuters regardless of which phone or wallet they use.
Covers Apple Wallet, Samsung Wallet, and other Android OEM wallets, across phones and wearables.
Each new wallet extends the same integration — no rebuild required.
04

Payment and Back Office Integration

OnBoard™ Transit integrates with payment gateways to support top-up, ticket purchase, and refund. Mobile transactions flow into the PTA back office exactly as physical card transactions do — account records, reconciliation, and blacklist controls remain unchanged.

Dubai RTA × Samsung Wallet — nol Card

RTA × Samsung Wallet

Bringing a City's Transit Credential into the Mobile Wallet

Mobile Wallet Integration

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority operates one of the world's largest city-scale mobility systems, serving 802 million passenger journeys annually across metro, bus, tram, marine transport, taxis, and parking.

The Challenge

Existing validators, fare rules, and clearing systems could not change. The digital nol Card had to be operationally identical to the physical card — across approximately 2 million Samsung devices in the UAE that RTA does not control.

What Was Delivered

OnBoard™ Transit delivered the digital nol Card to Samsung Wallet — supporting all card types, fare products, and entitlement rules across 60+ device models. At every gate and validator, the digital card is indistinguishable from the physical card. Beyond the gate, each phone became a service terminal: commuters can top up physical cards, purchase passes, and migrate to mobile.
